Life is full of annoying and frustrating people trying to make you do things you don’t want to do… So I say “Let it slide… And BAKE!”

Baking and cooking, then eating your efforts (and sharing with family and friends) is one of life’s great joys, so why wouldn’t you want to do something that brings you joy all the time?

My baking doesn’t always turn out the way I expect it to, but sometimes the joy is in the ‘doing’ rather than the finished product. This blog is a record of what I make, what I think, and other stuff too.

I’m a mother of two children and three cats, wife of one, living in a little rural town in New Zealand. We moved out of the city a few years ago to a property with a great big garden that we love (but admittedly struggle to keep up with) and a whole heap of VERY free range chickens.

When our gardening experiments go well we get to eat them, or just enjoy the beauty of them – woo hoo! When they don’t, it’s no big deal – just a lesson not to do it that way next time.

    1. Oh Barb, that’s so sweet! Thank you… I’ve been super busy doing absolutely nothing (unplugging from the virtual world and spring cleaning my house – yes… it took two months!!), I just don’t know where all the time goes sometimes. But I’m back online and looking forward to catching up on all the blogs I enjoy reading, including yours 🙂

      1. Sounds like an excellent two months! I tend to unplug in shorter increments, say around 7-10 days (which seems an eternity to the blogging world!). But I completely get what you mean, about being busy doing nothing. There’s ALWAYS a lot of nothing that needs to get done. 🙂

        I’m glad you’re back!

    1. Are you really?! Oh how funny… I’m in the Whanganui/Manawatu region, so only a few hours from New Plymouth. New Plymouth is a great place – have you been there recently? Lots of interesting things going on, and quirky little shops. I love it 🙂

      1. Oh, lovely! 🙂 yes, I actually went back in May 2014 with a few girlfriends for the first time since childhood. We had a campervan and did a road trip around the North Island and stopped in to visit my enormous extended family in New Plymouth haha! I loved it. Next trip: South Island 🙂 hopefully very soon!
